Sorry for the lack of reports, Jess and I have been extremely busy working 80+ hours a week on top of trying to move into our new house as well as Jess just starting dental school too, but we have still been out there fishing when weather permits.
This past Columbus Day weekend weather was a big let down for the opening weekend of sea bass season. Before the weather hit, my father and I were able to sneak out Friday morning for a quick birthday trip for him. The fishing was definitely not what we expected. We hit several spots and caught hundreds of short sea bass. At some spots the fish were over 60’ thick on the screen, but they were all small. We kept at it and ended the morning with a dozen keeper sea bass, some jumbo porgies, as well as a bonus trigger fish. It was a beautiful, flat calm day on the water for my father’s birthday!
Unfortunately we had to cancel all of our trips over the weekend due to the strong northeast winds, but we will hopefully be back at it again this coming weekend.
