This morning we kicked off our 2021 season with some sea bass on opening day. We had return client Mike Lombardi out along with Todd, Brian, and Mike. We got an early start which lined us up for an early finish. On the first drop they were pulling up double header keepers. We made one move to finish filling the cooler with some bigger fish biting the jigs. The crew quickly boxed up a 6 man limit of 60 sea bass along with a bonus keeper cod and ling to add to the mix. Great job today guys, it felt good to be back on the water and loading the boat up with a full boat limit on the first trip! Back at it again tomorrow.

This morning we had return clients and long time fishing friends Jeff Sr. and Jeff Jr. along with their friend Kenny out for a tog trip. We tried a few new spots today but they weren’t any different than yesterday. We bounced around to put together a catch that ended up being the same as yesterday’s trip. We ended the trip with 9 keepers up to 6lbs, releasing a couple for good luck, 2 nice porgies and over 40 shorts. We will see you guys next weekend and give it another shot at some double digits!

This morning we had some long time friends Jimmy, Dennis, Dave, and Hunter out for a tog trip. It was a really tough bite in the beginning as we bounced around a couple spots and only managed some shorts and a jumbo porgy. With a tough bite and the weather conditions deteriorating quickly, we made one last stop and were able to pick 9 keepers before heading in. It was a great day with good company full of laughs.

This morning we had Al and Anthony out for a striped bass trip. We got an early start which was a huge help when dealing with weekend boat traffic. Anthony and Al showed up ready to put in work and were able to put a limit of bass in the box within an hour with fish from 31-37”. We also had a solid 40” bass that we released to start off the morning. It was a great day on the water with great weather and even better company. We don’t get to see these guys too often, but when we do it’s always a blast!

This morning we had new clients Mark, Rebecca, and Mahlon out for a striped bass trip. The fishing was a little slower today due to the beautiful weather and tons of boat traffic, but we were caught by surprise to see a wave of some much bigger fish moving through the area today. The crew went 7/9 today on bass up to 40” weighing right around 30lbs. Rebecca did an awesome job catching a double header on the same rig with the two fish taping out at 37” and 35”. We ended the trip keeping 4 slot fish 31-37” and releasing the bigger ones to breed and swim another day.

Today we had new clients Tommy, Sally, James, and Jessie out for a striped bass trip. The weather was way worse than the day before, with the swell making it extremely hard to fish. The crew toughed it out even though some were feeling a little under the weather and were able to go 9/16 on bass from 23-31”. We pulled hooks on way too many fish as we were fighting the swell and wind, but were able to keep 5 bonus tag fish and 2 slot fish before having to head in a little early as the wind really started to crank. Great job in terrible conditions and we look forward to seeing you guys next summer!

This morning we had new client Dave along with his son David out for a striped bass trip. The wind was stiff out of the north with wind chop and a short steep swell, making it pretty uncomfortable heading in to it. The crew toughed out the conditions and did a great job going 13/18 on bass up to 39”. The few that we lost pulled the hooks due to the rough seas. Great job in the conditions today guys, we look forward to our trip next year with you!

This morning we had return client Mike Lombardi out for his 8th trip of the year with us along with his friends John and Tom for a 6hr striped bass trip. We got out extra early to try and beat the boat traffic and it paid off. We ended up going 18/20 on fish from 23”-38”. Mike crushed his personal best nailing a solid 37.75” fish weighing 25lbs! Awesome job today guys, fishing doesn’t get much better than these past few trips!

Today we had new client Dom with his brothers Angelo and Chuck out for the best striped bass bite of the season so far! The brothers ended up going 26/27 on a wide variety of different class bass from 23”-41”. We released several fish over 38” in the 25-30lb class range. They all crushed their previous personal best bass with some of the fish that were caught today! We had our full boat limit in under 2 hours of 5 slot fish and 5 bonus tag fish. Fishing doesn’t get much better than this right now, we will back back at it tomorrow after today’s blow.

This morning we had return clients Jay, Suzie, George, and Matt out for a striped bass trip. After taking a couple days off due to weather, it wasn’t what we were expecting when we got out there. We marked plenty of bait and saw a few whales but the fish were scarce. We stayed out late trying to find some more fish but of course the bite started a couple hours after we were already back at dock. We ended the trip going 4/5 on smaller bass, tagging 3 and releasing a 23”.

This morning we had Al and a friend who had to step aside from some pics due to work reasons (sick days are the best days) out for a striped bass trip. It was another epic bite as we had our boat limit of 4 slot fish and 4 bonus tag fish in just over an hour! They also released 5 more fish before the bite shut off pretty early. Awesome morning on the water! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the month brings after this weather pushes through these next couple of days!

Another awesome morning in the books! We had new clients Steve, Scott, and Pete out for a striped bass trip. We started off in the same area that we’ve been fishing and were on the fish within minutes. We lost count today but we had to have caught around a dozen fish plus the countless knockdowns and some that pulled hooks behind the boat. We released 2 fish that were in the 32-35lb range according to the scale as well. We ended the trip keeping our boat limit of 5 slot fish plus 2 bonus fish that we tagged. Great day guys we look forward to seeing you again before the run is over!

This morning we had Harrison and Taylor out for a striped bass trip as a belated birthday gift for Harrison. We have been trying to get them out since august but had bad weather forcing to reschedule 3 times. Today the weather was perfect and we had some great fishing in the morning. We found the bite early, starting the day off catching them 2 at a time. We ended the morning going 10/10 on bass up to 32”, keeping our 4 bonus tag fish and 2 slot fish. Great job today and happy belated birthday Harrison!

We had a rare day today where Jess and myself were able to fish together for the first time this year due to a last minute cancellation and boy did they miss out. We caught over 20 fish up to 45”, keeping our 2 slot fish and bonus tag fish. We then switched it up and went tog fishing, catching close to 50 tog and keeping our limit of 2 up to 5lbs. On the way in we found fish boiling on top water and Jess was able to jig up some more fish before heading home for the day. @ssbucktails1 mojos on umbrellas and tog jigs did the trick all day.

This morning we had return client Chris and his son Ryan along with their friend Gary out for our first striped bass trip of the fall run. We took a shot in the dark and pea soup fog this morning and went out looking for some life. We ended up finding tons of life with gannets working and bass on top. We got our first fish before we were even able to set out the spread. After getting a few fish trolling, we switched to try and get them on top water. We threw everything possible at them but they had lockjaw and we’re very finicky. We jumped back on the troll and ended the trip going 5/8 with fish up to 40”. Great job today on our first trip guys and we will see you next year!

Today we had return clients Jay and Suzie along with their friends George and Matt out for a wreck fishing trip. As we made our way through the inlet in the morning, we were greeted by a huge ground swell along with an outgoing tide making passing through very sketchy. We ran back out to where we had a full boat limit 2 days prior, but the big swell definitely effected the fishing. We had to move around to a few wrecks to put together a decent catch. Every single wreck was also covered up with spiny dogfish which made it even harder to get down to the sea bass as the dogfish were hitting the baits on the way down. The crew fished hard all trip and ended with 2 dozen sea bass, a dozen nice size porgies, and a couple tog up to 5lbs. Great job fishing through the swell and spiny doggies, we’ll see you guys in a couple weeks for striped bass!

Sorry for the lack of pictures! Today we did some wreck fishing with our friends Ryan and Keith. We got a late start but once we made it to the first wreck, the Rhodan trolling motor worked perfectly and we easily boxed our limit of sea bass in under 2 hours. We also had a dozen big porgies up to over 3lbs as well as a triggerfish! We were greeted with pea soup fog on the way in, but great day on the water with some great friends as well as great weather!

The weather so far this fall has been very uncooperative. We have not been given many days to fish. This past weekend we were able to get one trip in. We had new client Sam and Kenny along with their sons Sam and Mike out for a wreck fishing trip. A day that was forecasted to be beautiful ended up being the complete opposite by the end of the trip. It was a tough pick for sea bass as we could not fish where we wanted to, but the jumbo porgies made up for it. We had to end the trip a little early due to deteriorating weather conditions, but the crew ended with a nice mixed bag of some quality sea bass, jumbo porgies, triggerfish, blackfish, and even a bonito. The Rhodan trolling motor worked awesome even in the rough conditions!

Today we had return clients Mike and Will out for our first charter with the new Rhodan trolling motor. Spot lock is a real game changer as the crew had no problem boating their limit of sea bass along with a dozen real nice porgies, 3 big trigger fish, as well as a couple bluefish. At the end we switched gears to target tog much closer to home and they quickly put a limit of tog on the boat while releasing many more before calling it a quits. Great day on the water and an awesome mixed bag of fish to go home with!

We spent all day installing our brand new Rhodan 96” trolling motor. Sea bass season opens 10/8 and we are ready to fill the coolers using spot lock with the new motor. A big thank you to our friends at @fishermansheadquarters for hooking us up with the motor after a long and anxious wait!
